Why is there an error when downloading or updating the Android app?

Google Play may sometimes the following errors messages when updating or installing the OLX app, and other apps for that matter. Errors like these can be very frustrating. Luckily, the internet is filled with fixes and troubleshooting steps you can easily do yourself. Here are the things you can do in case you run into these errors:

ERROR 429
Suggestions Steps/Details
  1. If you're updating the OLX app, try uninstalling and reinstalling it on your device
  •  You can uninstall and reinstall the OLX app from Google Play Store
  1. If that doesn't do the trick, or it's your first time installing the app, follow these steps:
  • On your device, go to Settings >> Manage Applications >> and select/tap the 'All' tab
  • From the list of apps displayed, find and tap "Google Play Store" then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache'
  • From the same list of apps, tap "Google Services Framework" then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache' as well
  • You can also do this automatically by using apps like "Clean Master"
  1. In case the steps above doesn't work, you may also opt to format your SD card
  • NOTE: Formatting your SD card will remove all it's content

 

ERROR 403

  1. Establish a strong and stable internet connection (Wifi/mobile data)
  • One little trick you can do to improve connection strength is by enabling Airplane mode until the indicator/icon shows up on your device status bar before disabling it again. Once disabled, just wait for your device to reestablish the connection
  1. Delete your Google Play Store search history
  • Go to Google Play Store and open the menu by tapping on the icon at the upper-left corner of the screen
  • This will slide your menu open from where you will find the 'Settings'. Tap 'Settings'
  • Proceed by tapping 'Clear Search History'
  1. Clear Proxy
  • Go to 'Settings' on your device
  • Select 'Wireless and Networks' (or any other similar options)
  • Tap 'Mobile Network' then tap 'APN' (Access Point Name)
  • Proceed by selecting 'Clear Proxy' 
  1. Re-sync your Google Account
  • Go to 'Settings' on your device and select 'Accounts'
  • Choose "Google" from the list of accounts
  • Tap the menu button at the top-right corner of the page and select 'Sync Now'
  1. Use an alternative Google Account

You can choose to do this if you have another Gmail account, or willing to create a new one 

  • If you already have another Google account ready, go to your device's 'Settings'
  • Select 'Accounts' and tap 'Add Account'
  • Choose "Google" from the list and proceed in adding your other Gmail account

 

ERROR 960
Suggestions Steps/Details
  1. Re-add your Google account
  • Go to 'Settings' on your device and choose 'Accounts'
  • Select 'Google' from the list of accounts
  • Open the menu by tapping the menu soft-key on your device or the menu icon at the upper-right corner of the screen
  • Tap 'Remove Account'
  • Once removed, proceed in adding your Google account again
  1. Clear your Google Play Store app's data and cache
  • On your device, go to Settings >> Manage Applications >> and select/tap the 'All' tab
  • From the list of apps displayed, find and tap Google Play Store then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache'
  • You can also do this automatically by using apps like "Clean Master"
  1. Update your Google Play Store app
  • Open the 'Play Store' on your device
  • Open the menu by tapping the icon at the upper-left corner of the screen
  • Go to 'Settings' and tap 'Build Version'
  • This will prompt a window that will allow you to update the Play Store

 

ERROR 24
Suggestions Steps/Details
  1. Clear your Google Play Store app's data and cache
This normally pops up for Android 4.4 users
  • On your device, go to Settings >> Manage Applications >> and select/tap the 'All' tab
  • From the list of apps displayed, find and tap "Google Play Store" then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache'
  • You can also do this automatically by using apps like "Clean Master"
  1. Factory Reset
  •  NOTE: This will completely wipe your files clean and reset your device to its factory settings. If you will do this, we highly recommend backing up your files first
  1. Update your Android
  •  You can also update your OS version from 4.4 to anything higher that's compatible with your device.

 

ERROR 406

  1. Re-add your Google Account
  • Go to 'Settings' on your device and choose 'Accounts'
  • Select 'Google' from the list of accounts
  • Open the menu by tapping the menu soft-key on your device or the menu icon at the upper-right corner of the screen
  • Tap 'Remove Account'
  • Once removed, proceed in adding your Google account again
  1. Clear your Google Play Store app's data and cache
  • On your device, go to Settings >> Manage Applications >> and select/tap the 'All' tab
  • From the list of apps displayed, find and tap "Google Play Store" then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache'
  • You can also do this automatically by using apps like "Clean Master"
  1. File a ticket to Google
  • You may also seek further assistance from Google to report the error in the Play Store

 

ERROR 923
  1. Restart your device
 
  1. Check your device's storage capacity
  • This is normally related to a device's storage capacity so make sure you have enough for it to run smoothly
  1. Clear your Google Play Store app's data and cache
 
  • On your device, go to Settings >> Manage Applications >> and select/tap the 'All' tab
  • From the list of apps displayed, find and tap "Google Play Store" then tap 'Clear Data' and 'Clear Cache'
  • You can also do this automatically by using apps like "Clean Master"
